Terrafarm Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Terrafarm (the "App") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the iOS app.
1. Who We Are
Terrafarm is a plant and farm management app that helps you track farms, plants, care actions, and related insights.

2. Information We Collect
A. Information you provide in the app
- Farm data (farm names, location labels, environment setup, optional sensor mappings).
- Plant data (plant names/types, growth details, care history, and task interactions).
- Notes and diary content you create.
- Optional profile/display name.
- Photos/images you choose to upload.
B. Photo safety analysis
- Before an image upload is sent to cloud storage, the app analyses the image on-device using Apple's Sensitive Content Analysis framework.
- If the content is classified as sensitive, the upload is blocked and not uploaded.
C. Device, usage, and diagnostics data
- App analytics events (for example: screens viewed, feature usage, task actions, paywall events, subscription status changes, and blocked image-upload reason codes).
- Crash and diagnostic information.
- Technical metadata such as app version, device type, and general runtime information.
D. Account/sync identifiers
- Anonymous Firebase authentication ID and app/device identifiers used to sync your data across devices.
- Pairing codes used for optional device-linking flows.
E. Purchases
- In-app purchase and subscription status information needed to provide TerrafarmPro access.
- Payment processing is handled by Apple; we do not receive your full payment card details.
F. Location and connected home data (if you enable it)
- Location information you enter manually for farms.
- If you use current-location features, iOS may provide your location after permission.
- If you connect HomeKit, the app can read selected HomeKit sensor data you allow (for example, temperature, humidity, soil moisture).
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Operate app features (farm/plant management, tasks, reminders, onboarding, sync).
- Provide weather/context-aware recommendations and analytics.
- Store and sync your content across your devices.
- Process and validate TerrafarmPro entitlements.
- Improve reliability, performance, and product quality.
- Protect users and enforce safety controls (including sensitive image upload blocking).
4. Legal Bases (where applicable)
Depending on your region, we process data based on:
- Performance of a contract (providing the app services you request).
- Legitimate interests (security, reliability, product improvement).
- Consent (for notifications, location, HomeKit, and other OS permissions where required).
- Compliance with legal obligations.
5. Services and Processors We Use
Terrafarm uses third-party services to run app features, including:
- Apple (StoreKit, iCloud/iOS system frameworks, HomeKit permissions, Sensitive Content Analysis).
- Firebase by Google (Anonymous Auth, Firestore, Storage, Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config and related infrastructure).
- Weather and climate providers used by in-app weather features (such as Open-Meteo, MET Norway, and NASA POWER endpoints).
These providers process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share data only as needed to:
- Provide requested functionality through our service providers.
- Complete purchases and restore entitlements via Apple.
- Comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect rights and safety.
7. Data Retention
We retain data for as long as needed to provide app functionality, account continuity, and legal/security purposes.
In practice:
- Local app data remains on your device until removed.
- Synced cloud data is retained while your app account/data remains active, unless deleted through app functionality or support handling.
- Diagnostic and analytics records may be retained for operational analysis and fraud/security prevention.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your region, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to or restrict some processing.
You can also:
- Manage notification, location, camera, photo, and HomeKit permissions in iOS Settings.
- Remove farms/plants/notes/images from the app.

9. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 (or older age where required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure.
11. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, where our providers operate. We use appropriate safeguards where required by law.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and where required, provide additional notice.
